In the Spirit of Lincolnville is a solo exhibition of photography by St. Augustine-based photographer Lenny Foster, exploring the people, architecture, and history of the city’s historic Black community.

Foster’s engagement with Black historical sites in St. Augustine and members of the Black community has formed the basis for several growing bodies of work. Paying homage to the historically Black neighborhood, Lincolnville, the artist calls attention to the people, architecture, and notable events that have shaped the community and transpired along its streets.

As a CEAM intern, I wrote all of the accompanying exhibition texts, including press releases, social media posts, gallery text, two poems, and a short essay. As my capstone project for the Flagler College Honors College, I collaborated with photographer Lenny Foster and CEAM Director Julie Dickover on the curation of the exhibition, and conducted a Q&A with the artist on opening night.
